Calm
your mind
Reaching past the mind is the objective of meditation. You

will be able to go into new consciousness if your mind is
peaceful and the rational mind cannot restrict this consciousness.
You can feel the tranquility if your mind is calm.
Focus
You can do well in whatever you do if you focus completely
on your job. You should shut out everything else when you
are meditating.
Where
to meditate
I would suggest that you meditate in a location that is quiet
and tranquil. You can meditate in a little corner in a room
everyday if you want to. If you want then you can also make
use of photograph of some one who can motivate you. Otherwise
you can take a candle and some flowers. Meditating in the
same location daily can create a setting for meditation.
Aspiration
Why do we eat? It's because we are hungry. Likewise, we meditate
because we want to achieve inner peace. If you want to be
successful at meditation then you need to have an aspiration.
Endurance
and determination
You should not expect miracle to take place in one day. You
need a lot of practice before you excel in meditating but
for this you will need determination and endurance. It takes
time but one day you will learn the art.
