Adding Time To Your Day

It seems that there are never enough hours during the day to get everything done that we need and want to do. A little bit of planning can ensure your day runs smoothly with fewer of the stresses we become so accustomed to.

Lay your clothes out for the next day the night before. This is such a simple technique that most people overlook its value entirely. Not only will this get your day off to on the right foot, but it will ensure that you have time for other important morning activities. When you put out your outfit, be sure to include your accessories, shoes and belt. To take it one step further, put everything you need to take with you at the front door. Having your keys, briefcase or purse in the same area will help you fly out that door.

Enlist help . Many people simply take on too many tasks. Sometimes we are afraid that if we don't do it ourselves, it won't be done right. Sometimes you have to sacrifice a bit of perfection to have a bit more sanity! Get your partner or kids to help around the house and ask a co-worker to share more work in your joint project. As much as we would sometimes like, we can't control the outcome of every situation. Accept that it might not have been done exactly the way we would have, but that it's done none-the-less.

Make a plan. Getting more time means planning for it. If you don't have a day planner, you need to get one. It doesn't matter if you work full-time or are a stay-at-home mom. Planning your day into blocks of time will ensure that you get the best out of every day. If you have trouble sticking to your time schedule, use a small timer. For instance, if you want to organize your closet, set aside 15 minutes every day to work on them a bit at a time. Before you know it, you'll have accomplished all the things you never seemed to have time for!
