10 Great Quotes From John D. Rockefeller

By Frederic Premji under Inspirational Quotes

rockefeller

Here are 10 of my favorite quotes from American Industrialist & philanthropist John D. Rockefeller. Dealing mostly with wealth and leadership, I think they are an insightful read, coming from the mind of the richest person in history.

1- A friendship founded on business is better than a business founded on friendship.

2- Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.

3- Every right implies a responsibility; Every opportunity, an obligation, Every possession, a duty.

4- Good leadership consists of showing average people how to do the work of superior people.

5- If your only goal is to become rich, you will never achieve it.

6- Next to doing the right thing, the most important thing is to let people know you are doing the right thing.

7- The only question with wealth is, what do you do with it?

8- I always tried to turn every disaster into an opportunity.

9- I believe in the supreme worth of the individual and in his right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

10- I have no use for men who fail. The cause of their failure is no business of mine, but I want successful men as my associates.

“Next to doing the right thing, the most important thing is to let people know you are doing the right thing.” Talk about marketing… It is the case of “if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it…” (I am paraphrasing). No matter what you think about doing good things and adding value, you have to tell someone about it and hope they do the same. Thanks for the great post.

    Cheers
